Teacher and students write a novel about education together
With the book, the students want to make their voices heard and give their opinion on the current crisis in education. The book therefore does not avoid any taboo. Fear of failure and the urge to perform are the common thread. “There is a very strange paradox. We hear nothing else that the bar is lowering and that it is always getting easier. On the other hand, we see more and more students with fear of failure and pressure to perform. That is a crisis situation and that question is really the engine of the book” , explains author and teacher Kathelijn Vervarcke.
After the performance, the students take their book and their criticism to Flemish Minister of Education Ben Weyts. They want to give him surprisingly simple tips on what urgently needs to be improved.
