The decisions taken at the meeting of the Turkish Basketball Federation Disciplinary Board on December 7, 2023 were announced. Due to the incidents that took place in the Beşiktaş Emlakjet – Fenerbahçe Beko match played in the 10th week of the Basketball Super League, the black and white club was sentenced to play 1 match without spectators. Additionally, Beşiktaş was given a fine of 325 thousand TL.
The decision taken on the subject is as follows:
In the statement, “Regarding the Beşiktaş Gymnastics Club’s Beşiktaş Emlakjet – Fenerbahçe Beko Türkiye Sigorta Basketball Super League competition played in Istanbul on 02.12.2023;
a. 32/4 of the Hall Standards and Security Instruction. to be punished with a warning in accordance with Articles 34 and 16 of the Basketball Disciplinary Instruction, for not leaving the stairs empty in violation of the article,
b. Due to the hall and audience events taking place,
I. Since the action was carried out for the first time in the 2023-2024 season in the competition where the club is the host club, it is subject to Article 38/1 of the Basketball Disciplinary Instruction. and 38/2. to be punished with a fine of 30,000.00 TL in accordance with the articles,
ii. It was understood that the basketball player of the opposing team was injured by an object thrown from the stands during the indoor and spectator events, and in addition to the punishment given, the severity of the violation was taken into account in accordance with Article 38/6 of the Basketball Disciplinary Instruction. In accordance with the article, he will be punished by playing 2 matches in his own hall without an audience and a fine of 160,000.00 TL, with the addition of a total of 2 matches in his own hall without an audience and a fine of 190,000.00 TL,
iii. Considering the assistance of the club officials and their positive efforts to prevent the violation as a reason for discretionary reduction regulated in Article 12 of the Basketball Disciplinary Instruction, the penalty for playing without an audience will be reduced by half, and the penalty will be for playing 1 match without an audience in one’s own hall and a fine of 190,000.00 TL.
c. Because of the ugly and bad chants caused by the audience;
I. Since the action was carried out for the second time (T.09.11.2023-E.2023/319) in the competition in which the host club was the host club within the 2023–2024 season, it was subject to Article 39/1 of the Basketball Disciplinary Instruction. and 39/2. to be punished with a fine of 60,000.00 TL in accordance with the articles,
ii. In addition to the punishment given taking into account the continuity, severity and intensity of the actions, Article 39/7 of the Basketball Disciplinary Instruction. In accordance with the article, he will be punished with a total fine of 180,000.00 TL, with the addition of 120,000.00 TL,
iii. The assistance of the club officials and their positive efforts to prevent the violation will be considered as a reason for discretionary reduction regulated in Article 12 of the Basketball Disciplinary Instruction, and the penalty will be reduced by ¼ and a fine of 135,000.00 TL will be imposed.
D. By adding up the penalties, it is decided to play 1 match in its own hall without an audience and to be punished with a fine of 325,000.00 TL, unanimously; (K.2023/359)” statements are included.
