Taylor Swift urges US fans to vote

“Choose the people who best represent YOU,” she encourages her 282 million Instagram followers.

After a long silence on political issues, Taylor Swift is now speaking out on Instagram to encourage her fans to get involved in the current US presidential election.

“If you haven’t already, plan to vote today.”

“Today, March 5th, are the primary elections in Tennessee and 16 other states and territories,” the 34-year-old said in her statement Instagram story and continued: “I wanted to remind you to vote for the people who best represent YOU. If you haven’t already, plan to vote today.” Taylor Swift also referred to a website where all US citizens can look up their voting location: “No matter whether you’re in Tennessee or anywhere else in the USA “If you’re a polling person, check your polling locations and times on vote.org,” Swift said.

In the early years of her career, the “All Too Well” singer refrained from taking a public stance on her political opinions until 2018. Six years ago, she urged her fans to vote for the election in her native Tennessee to vote Democrat and thus oppose Republican Marsha Blackburn.

No statement since 2020

In 2020, she also commented on the presidential election at the time, but only stated her own attitude. In an interview with “V Magazine” she said at the time: “I will proudly vote for Joe Biden and Kamala Harris in this year’s presidential election. I believe that under her leadership, America has a chance to begin the healing process it so desperately needs.”
