X wants to prevent the distribution of AI-generated erotic images of Taylor Swift.
Anyone who entered “Taylor Swift” into the X search bar on Sunday afternoon (January 28) received an incorrect message indicating that there was a problem and that they should try their luck again later. But further efforts also came to nothing.
The reason: The social media platform blocked the search for the pop singer because fake erotic pictures of her were circulating on the internet and they didn’t want these photos to be found on X. However, this measure should only be temporary.
Swift’s safety is a priority
X’s head of business, Joe Benarroch, justified the move by saying “we prioritize security in this matter,” according to The Guardian. It is currently unclear until when you will not be able to get any further by entering Swift’s name in X. Taylor Swift herself has not yet commented on the social media site’s rigorous approach.
Since January 23rd, Swifties have been campaigning against the further distribution of the AI-generated, explicit images of the musician. Their plan: to flood X specifically with content under the term “Taylor Swift AI” in order to better ensure that the fake porn images are lost in the mass of publications.
Social media is intended to prevent misinformation
White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre also made a statement about the AI photos of Swift, which have been making the rounds for several days. She called this use of artificial intelligence “alarming” in this regard. She believes social media has a responsibility to prevent the spread of such misinformation.
