Taylor Swift met with her late fan’s family

Before Swift on November 26th appeared in São Paulo, she made time for Ana Clara Benevides’ family.

23-year-old Ana Clara Benevides died after suffering a cardiac arrest shortly before Taylor Swift’s show in Rio de Janeiro. Now the singer has contacted the family of the deceased fan. She invited her relatives to her gig and had her photo taken with them too. The picture shows that the family wore a photo of the deceased on their T-shirts for the occasion.

However, it is not known how long the meeting lasted and what they talked about. As the Washington Post reports, Taylor Swift also made a donation to Benevides’ parents. The amount of the donation was not made official.

At Swift’s invitation, the family watched the concert in São Paulo from the VIP area. “They were able to live their daughter’s dream for her,” one fan commented on X.

No water bottles were allowed in the stadium

Benevides had reportedly been at the Nilton Santos Olympic Stadium in Rio de Janeiro for more than eight hours before feeling unwell. The temperatures in Brazil were said to have been over 38 degrees that day. Nevertheless, the organizer of the concert is said not to have allowed water bottles from outside to be taken into the stadium. In the front row, the 23-year-old is said to have first fainted and then suffered cardiac arrest twice. The fan ultimately died in the hospital.

Taylor Swift “overcome with grief”

Taylor Swift previously commented on the incident in an Instagram story: “I can’t believe I’m writing these words, but I’m heartbroken to say we lost a fan before my show tonight. I can’t tell you how shocked I am about this. There is very little information that I have other than the fact that she was so incredibly beautiful and far too young.” Swift added: “I feel overwhelmed by grief when I even try to talk about it. I want to say now that I feel this loss deeply and my heart goes out to her family and friends.”

At the second concert in Rio de Janeiro, on November 19th, the artist dedicated the song “Bigger Than the Whole Sky” to the deceased with an emotional performance.

The Nov. 26 show in São Paulo was Swift’s annual finale of the Eras Tour. The tour will continue in Japan in February 2024 before the singer comes to Germany in July 2024.
