Pop star Taylor Swift has changed the lyrics of her song after a long time of criticism. Swift has released a new version for 2010 Speak Now -album, as he is re-recording his first six albums to get the rights to the songs. Now, with the new version of the album, we hear a controversial one Better Than Revenge -song’s new lyrics.

A part of the original lyrics of the song about a breakup has attracted criticism because it has been interpreted as misogynistic. In the lyrics, the narrator of the song taunts the girl who stole her boyfriend by, among other things, criticizing her for being too sexually active.

“He’s not what you think / He’s an actor / He’s better known for what he does on the mattress,” the song sings freely in Finnish.

In the new version published on Friday, July 7, the words are considerably kinder.

“The boy was like a moth by the flame / And the girl held the matches,” the new version sings.

Taylor Swift is currently performing on a tour that will hit Europe next year. PDO

Shortly after the release of the song, Swift said that the song is based on true events from her life.

– Better Than Revenge is about a girl who stole my boyfriend a few years ago. “He probably thinks I’ve forgotten, but I haven’t,” Swift said.

The singer-songwriter has also spoken about the song later. In 2014, he explained that he was 18 years old when he wrote the song.

– At that age, you think that someone can take your boyfriend away from you. Then you grow up and realize that no one can take someone away from you unless they want to leave, Swift formulated.

Taylor Swift is currently on tour. He is coming to Europe next year, but Finland is not on the gig list.
