For the taxi ride from BER to Berlin, passengers are expected to pay a surcharge of 1.50 euros on top of the regular fare.
The new airport tariff is to be decided in the Senate on May 3rd, at the same time in the district council of the Dahme-Spreewald airport district, said a spokesman for the Berlin transport administration on Saturday. The “Berliner Zeitung” (Saturday) had previously reported on the planned change.
The industry expects the new tariff to take effect in late summer at the earliest. Currently, 400 taxis from Berlin are allowed to pick up passengers at the airport.
The use of the taxi infrastructure at the airport is financed with the surcharge of 1.50 euros. It is managed by a private company. Anyone heading to destinations in the district must already pay the surcharge.
There was a similar surcharge at the former Berlin Tegel Airport, it was 50 cents.
