Tatjana Maria easily reached the round of 16 at the tennis tournament in Monterrey, Mexico.
The 35-year-old Wimbledon semi-finalist from Bad Saulgau defeated Italy’s Laura Bronzetti 6-1 and 6-0 in just 64 minutes in her opening match.
In the next round, Maria meets either Bronzetti’s compatriot Elisabetta Cocciaretto or Spain’s Marina Bassols Ribera.
Jule Niemeier (Dortmund) lost 6-1 and 6-0 in the first round match to Caroline Dolehide from the USA the day before.
