For Wimbledon semi-finalist Tatjana Maria, hopes for her second participation in a WTA Tour final this year have not been fulfilled.
The 35-year-old lost 6-2, 6-4 in the semi-finals of the $251,750 tournament in Seoul, South Korea, to second-seeded Russia Ekaterina Alexandrowa.
Maria reached her only WTA final of the current season last April when she won the title in Bogota.
With her entry into the semi-finals in Seoul, Maria will rise to the top-ranked German in the coming world rankings. Former world number one Angelique Kerber and Wimbledon quarter-finalist Jule Niemeier fall behind the current number 80.
