In Bogotá, the 35-year-old Swabian easily defeated the Italian outsider Nuria Brancaccio 6:3, 6:2 in the quarter-finals on Friday.
In the semi-finals, last year’s Wimbledon semi-finalist meets Laura Pigossi from Brazil or Britain’s Francesca Jones. Maria, seeded number two, is the only German starter at the clay court tournament in the Colombian capital, which is endowed with almost 260,000 US dollars.
