Tatjana Maria at the tournament in Bogotá in the semifinals

Tennis player Tatjana Maria can continue to hope for her first WTA tournament victory in almost four years.

The 34-year-old from Bad Saulgau defeated the Swede Mirjam Björklund in the quarterfinals in Bogota/Colombia after 62 minutes 6:1, 6:4 and is in a WTA semifinal for the first time in almost three years. There Maria meets the Romanians Irina Maria Bara or Kamilla Rachimova from Russia.

For Maria it would be the second title on the WTA tour. She had previously triumphed at the tournament in Mallorca in 2018. There she defeated the Latvian Anastasia Sevastova 6:4, 7:5 in the final. Due to the strong performance in Colombia, Maria is again among the top 200 players in the world from Monday.
