Tastemaker promises Naçi Ünüvar (19) extends contract with Ajax | Dutch football

Naçi Ünüvar (19) has extended his contract with Ajax until mid-2026. This preparation gives the attacking midfielder the opportunity to enforce a permanent place in the main squad.

Ünüvar has been regarded as a great talent at Ajax for years. The little playmaker made a dream debut in the cup tournament 2.5 years ago, when he came in, decorated a penalty and then cashed it himself. It did not come to an entry into the Eredivisie after that.

After a difficult year with the reserves, Ünüvar was the absolute trendsetter at Jong Ajax last season. In the first division he was good for 16 goals and 12 assists. Zaandammer, who started in Ajax’s youth academy in 2011, thus set the club record to his name.

Ünüvar has set his sights on playing time in the main squad for next season. Before that, he returned from vacation fitter than ever, the technician last month. “I’m super fit. I can now prove myself in the first. I want to continue. I have to grab the opportunities I get with both hands. You can’t do that if you’re not in top shape.”

Ünüvar was part of the selection with which Ajax organized a training camp in De Lutte last week and this month, when the national champion is still settling down in Austria, he will have the chance to enforce permanent promotion. As one of the few promises, he did not train with the first team last season.

,,It just gnaws when you see other guys getting opportunities. On the other hand: I already joined Jong Ajax when I was sixteen. I turned 19 two weeks ago. I don’t need to be in a hurry just yet. It’s normal. It fits. And mentally it made me stronger. Will this be my season? I am fully committed to that,” said Ünüvar.
