The Smaakmakers Festival in de Wijk will not take place at De Reest for the first time this year. A new location on Commission Road has been chosen. On September 16 and 17, the food trucks, music and other tents will be ready there.
“Unfortunately we could no longer stay on the old site, so we opted for a fantastic new location on the Commissionweg, at the intersection with the Haalweidigerweg,” the organization said. “The site belongs to the Schoonvelde family, we are extremely grateful to them for their involvement and cooperation and the many positive reactions from local residents. Our new site offers all the space and possibilities to experience another spectacular Tastemakers festival.”
Quiet music
As with the successful previous editions, Smaakmakers is based on food and drinks from food trucks, live music, art and culture and plenty of entertainment for the children. “Quiet music, because at the tables between the food trucks it should be possible to have a pleasant chat.”
Also this year the public can enjoy a lot of live music. The young Anique from Meppel is on the program on Saturday. This singer-songwriter recently signed a record deal with Ilse de Lange’s label and successfully launched her debut single There with you. The closing track on Saturday is Them Dirty Dimes. These Groningen residents take their inspiration from the 1920s and mix it with modern influences. Swinging, nostalgic and always surprising, they guarantee a well-filled dance floor.
Alcohol-free bar
On Sunday it’s Maartje’s. This former resident of the Wijk makes sharp Nederpop. Her preference for the Dutch language can be heard in the lived lyrics. Accessible and a bit unusual. There is also plenty of room for young, talented Drenthe singer-songwriters.
New at the festival is the non-alcoholic bar with non-alcoholic cocktails. “We would like to enable moderate alcohol consumption,” the organization indicates. Admission to the Smaakmakers Festival is now also free.
