The supporters in Zwaag lose a player with Iliass Bouzit to come to the sports hall. The 28-year-old Hovocubo tastemaker chooses to play closer to home. “Back to where futsal all started for me.”
At the age of seventeen, Bouzit started playing football at ASV Lebo in Amsterdam-West. “That’s where I got to know futsal,” he continues. “They came a bit unexpectedly. It was not planned to leave Hovocubo, but I had an expiring contract. And then suddenly a project from Amsterdam came by. I was open to their story and that appealed to me.”
From next season, ASV Lebo will continue under the flag of Os Lusitanos. The clubs have joined forces and have already stirred up the transfer market. With Bouzit (Hovocubo), Mo Attaibi (FC Marlène) and Hoessein Jabir (Veerhuys), the team from Amsterdam has already taken a big hit. “The goal is to once again have an Amsterdam club as national champion,” says Bouzit. The last time that happened was ‘t Knooppunt in 2017 and Lebo the year before.
“At the moment I think the club suits me well. It’s nice and close to home. They long to play for prizes again and then they approached me,” says Bouzit with a smile. “But of course also the other acquisitions.”
Hovocubo
At Hovocubo, Bouzit scored 42 goals last season. He finished third on the top scorers list. In addition, Faisal Mellah (Tigers Roermond), Amir Amghar and Oualid Tarafit (both ZVG/Cagemax) also leave. “I wouldn’t have mind playing another year at Hovocubo,” says Bouzit, who has received several offers from abroad in recent years. “You have to do that when you are 19 or 20. Only if a top club comes now, would I still want that.”
Hovocubo grabbed next to the national championship in the final against FC Eindhoven this season. In addition, there were disturbances during the games against Tigers Roermond. That was no reason for Bouzit to leave Zwaag. “I would have liked to have left with a prize. We had many setbacks last season. We narrowly lost the final, but in the end I am still satisfied with what we have achieved.”
Bouzit played at Hovocubo since 2021. Before that he was active for FC Marlène, ‘T Knooppunt and ASV Lebo.
