TASS learned the details about the discovery of an American submarine in the Pacific Ocean

A U.S. Navy Virginia-class submarine in the Kuriles was discovered by Il-38 anti-submarine aircraft and a submarine of the Russian Pacific Fleet. TASS a source close to the naval sphere.

“An American Virginia-type boat was discovered by Il-38 aircraft of naval aviation and one of the Pacific Fleet boats during exercises to search for and destroy mock enemy submarines in areas of their possible deployment,” the agency’s interlocutor said.

The US Navy submarine was discovered on February 12 off Urup Island. The coordinates of the American submarine were handed over to the Marshal Shaposhnikov frigate, which sent the submarine a warning about the violation of the Russian water border and the demand to “surface immediately.” Since there was no response to the appeal, the crew of the frigate used special equipment in accordance with the governing documents on violation of the state border.
