Hurricanes was in deals with the New York Rangers on Monday. A defender who belonged to the Rangers organization Tarmo Reunanen moves to Hurricanes, who sent the attacker Max Letunovin Rangers.
Neither can play in the NHL this season anymore, as the deal took place after the deadline for player transfers. In the AHL, both are allowed to play in their new clubs.
Both Reunanen and Letunov have played all season in the AHL, Reunanen in the Hartford Wolf Pack and Russian Letunov in the Chicago Wolves.
Rangers booked Reunonen in the fourth round of 2016. 24-year-old Reunanen has played four NHL matches and scored one entry point.
The 26-year-old Letunov is a St. Louis Blues second-round booking from 2014. He has played three NHL games at San Jose Sharks and scored one goal.
