Halonen says that Ural rowan was once a couple’s wedding song.
Halonen remembers the year 2000, when he became the president of the republic.
– I was a sworn cohabitant. Pena said then that if he got married, I would be his third wife, says Halonen.

However, the couple did not want a big wedding. When both children were all in Finland at the same time, Halonen and Arajärvi invited their loved ones together under the guise of a harvest party. Only the witnesses, Halonen’s daughter and Arajärvi’s son knew about the upcoming wedding.
The couple got married in a gazebo outside Mäntyniemi. The music was provided by Halonen’s security guards who could play, at the president’s request, of course.
– We went through those songs. Finally came Ural rowan. They said that maybe this would be called right away, Halonen recalls.
