Tappara made a successful 1–0 raid trip to Switzerland in the first leg of the hockey CHL quarterfinals.

The only goal of the match had to wait more than half way through the second period, until Tappara struck with an underpowered shot. Petteri Puhakka broke free and passed Gilles Senn with a sharp wrist shot.

The second and decisive game of the match pair is next week’s Tuesday at the Nokia Arena. In the CHL playoffs, the next place is decided by the combined goals of the two matches.

Jukurit also played a tight match against the Swiss opponent, when it ended in a 1-1 draw when Fribourg visited Mikkeli.

The hosts took the lead Juhamatti Aaltonenbut the punts were equaled by the former Jokerit pack Ryan Gunderson. The American was hit by the serving surface Janne Kuokkanen.

Honga’s winning goal

Finnish players played a prominent role when Luulaja defeated Wolfsburg Grizzlys 3–2 in the away match.

The winning goal came in the third period Julius Hongan from the stage Leo Komarov Kudi’s shot from the return puck. By Brendan Shinnimin grabbed the assist for the overtime goal in the opening set Juhani Tyrväinen.
