Tallon Grepe has secured a place in the second round of the grass tournament in Rosmalen. The number 38 in the world needed three sets to get rid of the Swede Mikael Ymer, who is 24 places lower in the world ranking: 6-2 3-6 6-3.
In February, Greek track (26) also faced Ymer at the ABN AMRO Open. Then it became 7-6 (7) 7-5 for the Dutchman.
For a place in the quarterfinals, the Greek track will compete against the Frenchman Arthur Rinderknech or Alexei Popyrin from Australia. Last year, the Greek track lost in Rosmalen in the second round in two tiebreaks to the Canadian Félix Auger-Aliassime.
Greek track is the only Dutchman who is still active in the men’s singles. Gijs Brouwer was eliminated on Monday, while title holder Tim van Rijthoven and Botic van de Zandschulp canceled just before the tournament.
