Tallon Greek track has given the Netherlands a 1-0 lead against Kazakhstan in the Davis Cup Finals. The tennis player from Nieuw-Vennep won in three sets against Mikhail Kukushkin: 6-1, 3-6 and 6-3.
Tallon Groet, the number 48 in the world, was the first of the Dutch to take action. The 26-year-old tennis player played very strong, especially in the first set, and did not give his Kazakh opponent a chance. In the second set, Kukushkin came into the game better and equalized in sets. Fortunately, in the third and decisive set, Greek track was able to recover and did not run into any more problems.
The win gives the Netherlands a 1-0 lead against Kazakhstan. Later tonight, Botic van de Zandschulp will play in singles and Wesley Koolhof and Matwé Middelkoop in doubles.
Davis Cup Finals
In addition to Kazakhstan, the Netherlands is also assigned to the United States and Great Britain at the Davis Cup Finals. The Netherlands will play against Kazakhstan today and against Great Britain on Friday. The final piece for the Netherlands is next Saturday against the United States. All matches are played in Glasgow, Scotland. The two best countries in the group qualify for the quarter-finals.
