Eva Jinek is changing course with her daily talk show on RTL 4. Her viewing figures have been under pressure for some time, so something had to happen. It has now been decided to give her a permanent sidekick. The choice fell on Roelof Hemmen, the former newsreader of RTL who was pushed aside by Radio 538 at the end of last year.

Roelof as sidekick

Roelof was part of Frank Dane’s team for a year, but they were abruptly taken off the radio. Since then, the presenter has decided never to work for Talpa, whom he has come to hate. Fortunately, he now finds shelter at the major competitor RTL.

The presenter gets a permanent role in Eva’s talk show. “From Tuesday, Eva will be flanked daily by Roelof. From behind his news desk, Roelof will explain and background on the news with the figures and facts. In addition, he also keeps a close eye on (social) media,” explains a spokesperson.

Nick & Simon

Eva hopes that more people will watch on Monday, because she then has an exclusive appointment with the singing duo Nick & Simon, which is splitting up. “On Monday they will tell the whole story about the break up at Eva’s table once. Why are they breaking up and what are their solo plans?”

One evening later, Eva aims at the viewers of the summer hit B&B Vol Liefde. “Then Martijn from Portugal and Hans from France come to the studio in Amsterdam. The big question is: do they come alone or do they bring their new love with them?”

Is the tide turning?

The big question is: can Eva turn the tide of viewing figures or will she continue to struggle with lower viewing figures? AD media journalist Marcus den Blanken fears the latter. He thinks the presenter has been damaged by the riot around Today Inside.

Marcus says: “I think that a lot of people have just dropped out of Jinek because of everything that happened during that summer period, so I think there will be fewer viewers for Jinek in the end.”

Jinek

Jinek can be seen on RTL 4 every working day from Monday at 10 p.m. “With the talk of the day, backgrounds to the news and guests from current events.”
