Next Saturday, Jamal Musiala and Florian Wirtz, probably the two most promising talents in German football, will meet in the top Bundesliga game between Bayer Leverkusen and FC Bayern. Before the duel, the duo was showered with praise.
“These are two talents of the century who both have the chance to be voted World Footballer of the Year in their careers,” Michael Reschke, who worked at both FC Bayern and Bayer Leverkusen, is quoted by “kicker”.
Record national player Lothar Matthäus joined in the hymn of praise. “These two are our great hopes for the coming decade,” said the 62-year-old, referring to the national team.
Matthäus therefore suggested to national coach Julian Nagelsmann: “They are football-intelligent, don’t get in each other’s way, and don’t play in the same position in the club. A coach has to be able to integrate them into a team.”

According to former Bayern professional Steffen Effenberg, Musiala and Wirtz no longer have puppy status and the two 20-year-olds are “no longer talented”. “They are performing at the highest level and are on the way to becoming world class. What speaks for them is that at their age they are regular players and top performers in absolutely top teams,” emphasized Effenberg.
Bayer Leverkusen’s sports director Simon Rolfes enthused: “They are a gift for German football and every child to have them as a role model.”
Jamal Musiala and Florian Wirtz are both considered absolute high-flyers in their clubs. The creative players from FC Bayern and Bayer Leverkusen were already part of their teams’ regular staff when they were teenagers.
On Saturday (6:30 p.m.) there will be a direct duel between the two youngsters in the top Bundesliga game between Bayer 04 Leverkusen and FC Bayern.
