Takeoff before his death: “It’s time to give me my flowers”

Takeoff demanded more credit for his work just days before his death. The rapper was a guest on the podcast “Drink Champs” together with Quavo, his uncle and rap partner, on October 22nd and spoke among other things about their joint album ONLY BUILD FOR INFINITY LINKS, which was released on October 7th. Together with Offset, Takeoff and Quavo formed the hip-hop trio Migos, their last album in this constellation was CULTURE III (June 11, 2021).

The NORE show host noted that it was on the two rappers’ new album that Takeoff really showed his talent. As NORE said, “One thing I love about the project is the way you shine. It feels like you’re on this one [Album] dance.” To which Takeoff replied, “It’s time to give me my flowers. I don’t want her when I’m not here.”

Kirshnik Khari Ball, as Takeoff’s real name was, was shot dead in a bowling alley on November 1 while playing a game of craps with Quavo. Takeoff was dead when they arrived, police said. In addition to the rapper, two other people were injured. Quavo suffered no injuries.

Takeoff’s last performance was on Saturday (October 29) at Lil Wayne’s “Lil WeezyAna Fest” in New Orleans. There he performed together with Quavo as part of their album ONLY BUILD FOR INFINITY LINKS.

After his death became known, many colleagues in the scene expressed their condolences. Including people like Rick Ross, Ja Rule and Cole Bennett. Politicians like US Senator Raphael Warnock also shared their sadness.
