TAIPEI (dpa-AFX) – Taiwan has welcomed US President Joe Biden’s commitment to the status quo of the democratic island republic. Following the meeting between Biden and China’s leader Xi Jinping on the Indonesian island of Bali, government spokesman Xavier Chang said Monday in Taipei that Taiwan is grateful that Biden has stepped up its opposition to a unilateral change in the status quo and undermining peace and stability in China cross-straits.
