The foreign minister said China has conducted not only large-scale military exercises, but also cyber-attacks, a disinformation campaign and economic pressure to divide Taiwanese society.
Wu held his press conference after the Taiwanese military completed a simulation training for a possible attack by China on the island. According to the army, the Taiwanese exercises were already planned before tensions mounted.
The Chinese exercises began Thursday in response to the visit of top American politician Nancy Pelosi to the island. Beijing, which considers Taiwan a renegade province, saw the US visit as a provocation.
