Table tennis women secure their first European Championship medal

The women’s team won the first medal for the German Table Tennis Association (DTTB) at the European Team Championships in Malmö. By reaching the semi-finals after a confident 3-0 without losing a set in the round of the best eight against Italy, the defending champions have already secured bronze.

In the fight for their ninth European Championship title, national coach Tamara Boros’ team will face hosts Sweden or Portugal on Saturday (Friday/4:00 p.m.) and can further refine their 18th European Championship medal. The European Games winners Romania and France will determine the second finalist.

After European Championship runner-up Nina Mittelham (Berlin) and her teammates made it through to the semi-finals, the defending champion DTTB men will also play for a place in the semi-finals on Friday afternoon in Malmö. The team around European Championship record winner Timo Boll (Düsseldorf) will face Croatia.
