The German table tennis star Timo Boll (Düsseldorf) cannot take part in the forthcoming Individual World Championships in Durban (May 20-28) due to a shoulder injury.
The 42-year-old, third in the 2021 World Cup and record European champion, announced this decision on Tuesday eleven days before the start of the title fights.
According to this, the former world number one, who was last at the table at the end of February, wants to be ready for action again by the time of the European Games in Kraków (June 21 to July 2), which are part of the Olympic qualification.
Ruwen Filus (Fulda-Maberzell) is replacing Timo Boll in the German World Cup team.
