SZA supports Lizzo amid bullying and harassment allegations

SZA calls her friend a “beautiful” person and prays “everyone recovers from this.”

As of August 2023, Lizzo has been embroiled in a number of legal battles. Numerous former employees accuse the singer of bullying and harassment. Now SZA has spoken out about the allegations and defended her friend.

When the “Kill Bill” singer was asked by US “Rolling Stone” how she felt about the serious allegations, she defended Lizzo. “I’m just saying, based on the values and energy I see in my friend, I really think she’s a beautiful person. “I really pray that everyone recovers from this because everyone deserves to heal and feel safe and loved,” SZA said in an interview. “I really hope that’s how everyone feels at the end when this is all over. Because that’s the main thing.”

Serious allegations against Lizzo

The legal battle over Lizzo began at the beginning of August. No sooner had she dismissed the accusations of three former background dancers who accused her of “sexual harassment and creating a hostile work environment” than the next allegations followed. On September 21, costume designer Asha Daniels, who worked on Lizzo’s 2023 tour, filed a lawsuit against the “About Damn Time” singer alleging racial and sexual harassment, disability discrimination, wrongful termination and assault. It is directed not only against the artist, but also against her production company Big Grrrl Big Touring, Inc. (BGBT), her wardrobe manager Amanda Nomura and her tour manager Carlina Gugliotta.

Two of the dancers who sued Lizzo claim they tried to resolve the matter “internally.” However, they were “rejected”.

The singer continues to deny all allegations, calling them “outrageous.” Last week she asked the presiding judge to drop the “false” lawsuit against her. The musician finds it “disappointing” that her character is “criticized” in this way.

Her attorney has also spoken publicly about the lawsuit, saying that she “intends to sue for malicious prosecution after she prevails and these spurious allegations are dismissed.” He also believes the lawsuit is a complete “farce.” “Any claims to the contrary are ridiculous, and we look forward to proving this in court,” concluded Lizzo’s team.

Lizzo and SZA as a team

SZA collaborated with the singer this year on a remix of Lizzo’s song “Special” from her 2022 album of the same name. The defendant also appeared as a special guest at SZA’s final show of her “SOS” tour.
