Moments of great fear at the World Swimming Championships in Budapest. During the test of the free single in the synchronized, at the Szechy pool, the American Anita Alvarez lost consciousness and ended up at the bottom of the pool. For a few moments no one intervened until the American coach dived to save her. In this way her technician uses her literally saved her life.

The illness would have been due to the great humidity and heat of the pool as well as the stress for the race. However, it was not the first time that something similar to the US synchro had happened. The swimmer, who has a participation in the Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020 Games, had already fainted last summer during the Olympic qualifier singles.

After being seen by the organization’s doctors, Alvarez returned to the training pool with the rest of the group.
