Sylvester Stallone lashes out at creators of ‘Rocky’ spinoff: “Give me back my rights, you leeches” | Celebrities

CelebritiesLast week it was announced that a spinoff of ‘Rocky’ is in the works, which will be about the character Ivan Drago (Dolph Lundgren). Sylvester Stallone (76) is anything but set up with that, according to a few messages on social media.

That Sylvester Stallone is not exactly happy with the news that a spinoff of ‘Rocky’ is in the works, he immediately made it clear on social media. He shared screenshots of the news on Instagram. In the accompanying message, he referred to producer Irwin Winkler, whom he called a “pathetic 94-year-old producer”, and his children – according to Stallone “useless idiot vultures”. By the way, Winkler is not 94, but 91 years old. “I apologize to my fans, I never wanted Rocky characters to be exploited by these parasites,” Stallone continued. Lead actor Dolph Lundgren gets off a little easier. “By the way, I have nothing but respect for Dolph,” Stallone continues. “But he never told me what was going on behind my back with the character I created for him. True friends are more precious than gold.”

His anger did not die down, so Stallone then posted a photoshopped image of Irwin Winkler, who sucks the blood from Rocky like a vampire. “After Irwin Winkler and his family drained ‘Rocky’, what is probably the most hated, untalented and decaying producer in Hollywood and his cowardly kids have found their next meal: Drago. Give me back my rights, you leeches.”

Stallone already lashed out at Winkler in July. “After Irwin has been in control of ‘Rocky’ for over 47 years, and now ‘Creed’, I’d really like to get back at least a little bit of WHAT’S REMAIN of my rights, before it’s passed on to ONLY YOUR CHILDREN – I think that would be a fair gesture from this 93-year-old gentleman?” Stallone created the character of Rocky Balboa and wrote the screenplay for ‘Rocky’, which won the Oscar for Best Picture in 1977. Stallone was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Screenplay and an Academy Award for Best Actor, and played the character in five more sequels and in the two ‘Creed’ films. The actor received a share of the proceeds from the first ‘Rocky’ film and a number of sequels, but in recent years regularly expressed his dissatisfaction with the share he still has. “I have zero ownership of ‘Rocky’,” he told Variety film magazine in 2019.
