Sylvester Stallone: ​​“Cliffhanger 2” receives funding from Germany

After 30 years, Stallone returns as Gabe Walker. Cash also comes from German regions.

Around 30 years after the action film “Cliffhanger” was released with Sylvester Stallone in the lead role, the German film funding fund is supporting “FFF Bavaria(Film FernsehenFonds Bayern) the sequel “Cliffhanger 2” with two million euros. The shoot, which will start in Europe in the summer of 2024, will this time not be directed by Renny Harlin, but by Jean-François Richet (“Public Enemy No. 1”). Over half of the filming is planned in the Penzing Studios in Bavaria and in downtown Munich.

What to expect from the sequel

So there’s a new story on the big screen about ranger Gabriel “Gabe” Walker, played by Sylvester Stallone. He now lives in the Dolomites and runs an exclusive mountain hut there. What sounds like a relaxed affair turns out to be his downfall when he and a prominent customer of his are finally taken hostage during a weekend trip. Afterwards, his daughter first has to step on the scene and demonstrate her climbing skills in order to outwit the kidnappers. Afterwards there will be a dramatic fight for life and death.

It is currently unknown who will star alongside Stallone. There is currently no specific cinema release date.

“FFF Bayern” will be producing in the area “International films and series” support with a sum of two million euros. Plus: There is also a further grant of 10,000 euros as part of the “FFF Intern Incentive”which is committed to inspiring potential young people to take up filmmaking.
