Sylvana Simons believes that the talk show ‘Beau’ offered a stage to racism on Thursday evening. “To be honest, I’m still recovering from it,” said the political leader of BIJ1.
Beau van Erven Dorens looked ahead in his talk show on Thursday evening to the quarterfinals between the Netherlands and Argentina at the World Cup in Qatar. The presenter switched with Pim Sedee, reporter for De Telegraaf. Pim was surprised that so many Argentines had traveled to the oil state.
“Do you have that much?!”
Pim discussed this high turnout on the spot with, among others, Diego Vain, an Argentinian journalist. A little later he also spoke to an Argentinian supporter, who said that he had spent about 10,000 euros to attend the World Cup. “Do you have that much money?” Pim wondered in surprise.
Normally not, the supporter admitted. “I saved and worked hard for it for years and years. I had to beg a lot of people for money.”
Sylvana is pissed
Sylvana Simons, leader of the political party BIJ1, thinks this is seriously misplaced. She posted a message on Twitter about it last night, three days after Beau’s broadcast.
Her criticism sounds like this: “To be honest, I’m still reeling from the racism of Beau’s raging football reporter, who felt it necessary to ask Argentinians this week.”where they get the money‘ to be present at the World Cup and give the Argentinian supporters village a ‘Argentinian ghetto‘ to name. TF.”
Pam responds
Pim responds to Sylvana’s criticism this morning “The World Cup is expensive for fans from all over the world. Whether they come from the Netherlands, Japan, Australia, Morocco, Argentina, Brazil or Mexico. The fact that you see something racist in this says a lot about your suspicion. Too bad, also because you know how I work and still provoke.”
He concludes: “And next time maybe just watch the report honestly without prejudice – a positive story about football passion of South Americans. #tip”
