Switzerland has to worry about its EM ticket

The Swiss national football team still has to worry a bit about their ticket to the European Championships in Germany next summer.

The team led by Leverkusen Bundesliga professional Granit Alon Hazan still to be intercepted.

Augsburg’s Ruben Vargas (36th) gave the Swiss, trained by Murat Yakin – with four Bundesliga professionals in the starting line-up – a deserved lead, a little later midfielder Vargas was hit by the crossbar (41st). Even after that, the Swiss had chances, but left them unused.

Shon Weissman (89th) finally equalized and kept his team’s gap to Switzerland at four points – although there are only two games left. But Israel is at least assured of taking part in the playoffs next March.

Mainz’s Edimilson Fernandes was sent off with a red card in stoppage time (90th+4).

Israel, which has to play four qualifying games within ten days, cannot play home games in its own country due to the current threat situation in accordance with a UEFA decision.
