Swiss men’s team gets next German coach

The Swiss biathlon men will continue to be accompanied by a German coach in the future. As announced by the Swiss-Ski Association, a successor for Alexander Wolf has been found.

Alexander Wolf worked for two years as head coach of the Swiss biathletes, now the cooperation has ended. Lukas Keel, head of biathlon at Swiss-Ski, thanked Wolf in a message “for the always good and pleasant cooperation”.

How things will continue for the Schmalkaldener is still open. He wanted to “take on a new challenge in his home country,” the association said.

Alexander Wolf is now followed by a compatriot in Remo Krug. The experienced coach was until recently the head coach of the German IBU Cup team for women (2015 to 2018) and men (2018 to 2022). He worked for the Austrian Ski Association between 2012 and 2014.

Biathlon coach Remo Krug has “immense wealth of experience”

“The sport of biathlon in Switzerland has extremely exciting years ahead of it. I am very happy to be a part of it and to be able to help advance biathlon development at Swiss-Ski,” said Remo Krug, explaining his signature in the neighboring country: ” Together we will do everything we can to prepare as best we can for the challenges ahead – with the first Swiss World Cup event in 2023 and the World Championships in Lenzerheide two years later as absolute highlights.”

His new superior Lukas Keel praised him as a “great expert” who has “an immense wealth of experience”: “We are pleased to be able to tackle the groundbreaking years for Swiss biathlon sport together with Remo Krug.”

Meanwhile, Swiss-Ski had also announced that Osi Inglin was returning as head of the youth academy. The former alpine head coach for women and men will initially take over the post on an interim basis before taking over the commission for competition regulations at the association from June 2023.
