Swiss Marc Schneider new coach of SpVgg Greuther Fürth

The Swiss Marc Schneider is the new coach of SpVgg Greuther Fürth. As the Bundesliga relegated announced on Tuesday, the coach will receive a two-year contract.

Schneider worked for the Belgian second division club Waasland-Beveren until the end of February. Previously, he had coached the Swiss club FC Thun for three years, with whom he was relegated to the second division. In Thun, the former defender was also active as a professional until the end of his career in 2012. He also played for FC Zurich, with whom he won two Swiss championships, St. Gallen and YB Bern.

“Human on the same wavelength”

“The philosophy and approach that Marc presented to us in the talks coincides with what we envision for the game association,” said sporting director Rachid Azzouzi, emphasizing: “We were immediately on the same wavelength as people.”

Schneider reported that it was “very quickly clear to him in the talks that it would fit between Fürth and me. The club’s values, the approach – realistic but ambitious – and the conditions at Kleeblatt appeal to me immensely.”
