Swinging Go Ahead Eagles with ample numbers along Cambuur moderately playing | Eredivisie

Go Ahead Eagles has booked a deserved victory over Cambuur. Kees van Wonderen’s team was lord and master in its own house, and put the Frisians aside 3-0. The club from Deventer takes the three points away from the relegation zone.

From the first whistle, the residents of Deventer were in charge. Cambuur had to rely on a few counters, but didn’t come close to a big chance. In the 25th minute, the home team’s energetic efforts were rewarded with the lead, after Mees Hoedemakers unluckily tapped Joris Kramer’s header into his own goal.

Ten minutes later it was hit again from a standard situation. On a pass from Bas Kuipers, Luuk Brouwers headed the home team to a 2-0 lead. The standard situations have been a pain point for Cambuur all season. The Frisians have faced 16 from standard situations this Eredivisie season, at least 3 more than any other team.

Little changed in the game in the second half. Go Ahead controlled the pace and created chances, while Cambuur struggled to get close to the penalty area. The home side’s efforts were rewarded in the 77th minute. Mats Deijl took advantage of fumbling in the defense of Cambuur, rounded off, and thus completed the party in the Adelaarshorst: 3-0.

With this victory, Cambuur has to fear for the place in the left row, while Go Ahead climbs to place 12 in the Eredivisie.
