Swinging for the ‘older, younger’ with ClubNu from Assen at a special location: Airport Eelde

ClubNu from Assen is holding another dance party at a special location on Saturday, September 23. Organizer and owner of ClubNu, Tessa de Wilde, lets her guests swing to house and R&B at Airport Eelde, spread over two rooms. She already did that in February of this year and the success at the time left her wanting more.

Tessa de Wilde started ClubNu eight years ago. “I saw that there were no real opportunities for ‘older young people’ in Assen, i.e. people aged 25 and over. I wanted to give them their ‘own party’, with peers.”

Bull’s-eye

That turned out to be a bull’s eye. ClubNu caught on with the target group in Assen and Tessa has now expanded her activities to Groningen, Emmen and Eelde. Moreover, she also launches her ‘parties’ at, among others, the TT Festival, King’s Night and the Liberation Festival. Laughing: “Well, it was a gamble at the time, you never know how something like that will turn out. And of course I also experience ups and downs as an entrepreneur, but with ClubNu I run a financially healthy company.”

Like all other entrepreneurs, the corona period was an exciting time. Events were at a standstill and the question was how this would get going again. Tessa: “That wasn’t easy. When it was allowed again, I noticed that my dance parties were less attended. I have also received more competition from other organizations with the same formula, but after corona people found it a bit difficult to get started after a period of isolation. And yes, perhaps the fear of large crowds also played a role.”

Out of stock

Most have already crossed that threshold, Tessa notices. For example, ClubNu at Airport Eelde was sold out in February with 600 partygoers. That gave courage for a second edition at this special location. Last time the Assense organized this with ‘Lovers of House’, this time she is directing solo. “The party is again divided over two rooms. One room with R&B Classics, in the other room there is house music with DJs and acts, such as dancers.”

Until last week, about 200 tickets had been sold out. Tessa: “We have had the holidays, so I assume that ticket sales will now pick up again and that the ‘older young people’ from the area are looking forward to a nice dance evening again.”
