US swimming star Caeleb Dressel will not start again at the World Championships in Budapest.
The seven-time Olympic champion canceled his start in the 100m freestyle semifinals on Tuesday for “medical reasons”.
On Wednesday, the US team announced that the 25-year-old would no longer swim in Budapest after consultation with the medical department.
On the first two days of the competition, Dressel had won gold in the 4×100 m freestyle relay and over 50 m butterfly – his World Championship titles number 14 and 15.
The sprint star from Florida is considered the legitimate successor to record Olympic champion Michael Phelps.
