The renovation plans for the Hoensbroek swimming pool are ready. Demolition work will start in June and if everything goes according to plan, the work will be completed in April 2023.

The pool is getting a major makeover. Taking a refreshing dip this summer is out of the question. Demolition work will start in June and the grass will be sown on the site. Construction work will start during the school holidays. For example, the building is made more energy efficient and the swimming pool is heated with mine water. Finally, the tiling of the swimming pool will also be renewed. The municipality expects the swimming pool to be open again in April 2023.

Alderman Martin de Beer has previously announced that making the Hoensbroek swimming pool future-proof involves an investment of 7.5 million euros.
New operator
The former Otterveurdt swimming pool in Hoensbroek has had a new operator since April last year: Sportfondsen Groep. This company also operates the yet to be built swimming pool in Heerlen.

Swimming pool Heerlen
The new swimming pool in the center of Heerlen will be located at the Putgraaf on the site where the city office is now temporarily located. It should open in early 2024. The new swimming pool requires an investment of 6.6 million euros, of which 5.3 for construction and 1.3 for technical installations.
