In the butterfly discipline, she could have taken her time: the local hero was more than a second ahead of Amalie Mikkelsen (Denmark, 27.00), Marie Fuchs (Schwäbisch Gmünd, 27 ,24) and Lara Anna Vandenhirtz (Aachen, 27,61).

The freestyle sprint that followed was a thriller. Here, winner Köhler (25.00) and silver winner Jessica Felsner from Cologne separated a total of five hundredths of a second, third place went to Lena Riedermann from Berlin (25.79).

In addition to Köhler, Marie Fuchs did the double start in both sprints. After bronze in the 50 meter butterfly, she finished fifth in the freestyle race.

Next title for Anna Elendt

In the breast sprint, Anna Elendt from Frankfurt confirmed her exceptional position in this discipline. After her title in the 100 meters the day before, she added the next gold medal in the 50 meters in 30.58 seconds. Half a second later Ida Hulkko (Finland) followed ahead of Nele Schulze from Berlin (31.55) and Julia Titze (Munich, 31.74).

As on Friday, Elendt was not completely satisfied despite her victory: “This time the attack didn’t quite work, it was a bit slower there,” said Elendt, who stayed above her German record of 30.10 seconds. Elendt had already emphasized in advance that their goal was one “good dress rehearsal” for the World Cup starting next week in Fukuoka, Japan (July 14th to 30th).
