Many would rub their eyes when they were 19 years old Edvin Anger won the Swedish men’s free sprint championship on Saturday.
Among other things, the World Cup medalist was left behind Calle Halfvarssonnational team skiers Jens Burman and Marcus Grate as well as last year’s Swedish sprint champion Anton Persson.

– This is the fulfillment of my dreams. I expected a lot from myself and knew I was fast. I really got to show it. I am hugely proud.
Halfvarsson was eliminated in the semifinals and finished eighth. Konkari shared praise with Anger.
– It was really impressive. I didn’t even know he was still a junior, but apparently that’s the way it is.
Halfvarsson considers the future of the new champion bright.
– He can be as good as he wants to be. Winning the Swedish championship as a junior shows that he really has gifts.
The praise of the World Cup medalist warms Anger’s mind. For him, winning Halfvarsson was a big deal.
– It was great to beat him, I’m not trying to cover it up. It was great to beat such hard names. Great to hear such words from a man who is a big name in the world of skiing.

Gold was a balm to the wounds after the World Championships went wrong.
The February Games were disappointing as Anger was left without medals. He skied second in the sprint qualifier, but finished sixth in the final.
It was also the best place for a Swede on personal trips. Anger does not have any youth World Cup medals.
Admittedly, he won a free sprint at the Youth Olympic Festival two years ago.
In early March, Anger won the Swedish Junior Championships in 20 kilometers, sprint and 10 kilometers.
– Now I know what I have to give. I have no doubt that this performance would not have been enough at the World Cup.
Anger is a member of the Swedish junior national team. He hopes to ski next season at the World Cup.
The women’s sprint championship was won by the biggest comet of the season Jonna Sundling. Gold was his third.
Johanna Hagström took the silver, Emma Ribom bronze.
