Swedish soccer player Abdullah Talal Hameed has disappeared in Budapest, Hungary.

Hameed, 27, had signed a player contract with Croatian premier league team HNK Gorica and was supposed to travel to the town of Velika Gorica on Monday, but he never showed up.

His father Talal Hameed told for Aftonbladet that he called his son on Monday at 11 o’clock and heard that everything was ready for the trip.

An hour later, Talal Hameed could no longer catch his son. Abdullah Hameed’s phone was switched off. The same thing happened a few hours later.

Talal Hameed then decided to fly to Budapest and went to his son’s apartment. There was still a car in the garage. Hameed’s father called the police, who entered the apartment. Abdullah Hameed’s passport was found there. Instead, the keys and wallet were missing.

According to Talal Hameed, the police have told that a crime may have happened.

– Abdullah was really worried last week. He sounded depressed and unbalanced, but for the first time he didn’t tell me anything. He only stated that something could happen, Talal Hameed told Aftonbladet.

According to the father, his son had received an offer from another club, with which an agreement had already been reached. However, Abdullah Hameed withdrew from the deal.

That must have caused some bad blood.

– Two people came to the hotel where he was staying at the time. One of them threatened to stab him. One of the hotel employees called the police and the men left. After that my son was scared.

Shortly after the incident, Abdullah Hameed received a call from a person claiming to be a club representative.

– They demand that he pay 50,000 euros in compensation. Abdullah said he would not give them a single euro, after which the mood turned threatening.

The father believes that the contract dispute is connected to his son’s disappearance.

Abdullah Hameed lived in Budapest because he last represented the Hungarian team Zalaegerszegi TE FC II.
