Sweden’s most popular Finn was horrified by his drunkenness: “What have I done to my children?”

Irma Lehtosalo opened up about her past.

Irma Lehtosalo, 66, is from Lahti. PDO

Irma Lehtosalo is currently one of the most popular Finns in Sweden. The reason is the popular and award-winning television series Irma&Marko, who made Irma famous in one fell swoop. His son Marko Lehtosalo, i.e. Markolio is a Swedish-Finnish rapper who has had a long career in Sweden. The program follows their house building project.

Irma has openly talked about her alcohol problem.

Now he opened up more about his past Renées bridge in the program, which Aftonbladet quotes.

Irma’s own parents drank and fought when Irma was a child and Irma was often afraid. Irma started expecting Marko at the age of 19, when her parents took Irma out of their home.

Irma moved to Sweden and took to the bottle and society was not always very safe.

– I was beaten three times. Once my daughter woke up to a commotion, if she hadn’t woken up I would have died. He saved my life. My daughter started crying and the man stopped beating me. It’s terrible that he saw everything and still remembers it.

Marko, who was successful in his music, bought his mother a home in 2010, when the alcohol problem came to the fore. Irma decided to stop drinking. Irma is still sober, but she feels guilty.

– When I finished, I thought, good God, what have I done to my children. I had behaved as badly as my own parents.

Irma didn’t go to an AA club or something similar when she decided to quit, but she got support and help from those close to her.

Irma says her children and grandchildren are the biggest reason she stopped drinking.

Irma & Marko was awarded in August at the Kristallen gala as Sweden’s best reality TV program. PDO
