The Eurovision final will take place on Saturday 11 May, with the semi-finals taking place on 7 and 9 May.

The Eurovision Song Contest has also been held in Malmö twice before, in 1992 and 2013. The contest city was decided on the basis of, among other things, what kind of arena the city has for the competition and how the city can accommodate thousands of spectators, journalists and members of the delegations.

Earlier on Friday, it was reported that Gothenburg and Örnsköldsvik had dropped out of the game. The reason for the loss of cities was not given.

The Eurovision Song Contest is held in Sweden because Loreen won the previous Eurovision Song Contest Tattoowith his song. The victory also aroused anger in many people, because Suomen Käärijä won the public votes by far.

Finland’s representative for the next Eurovision will be decided again through the New Music competition. It is an open competition, and the application is open from 21 to 24. August.
