Sweden has won a hard-fought victory at the European Championship in England on Wednesday. Peter Gerhardsson’s team won 2-1 against Switzerland and thus took a step towards the knockout phase.
After the 1-1 draw against the Orange, Sweden made a mediocre impression against Switzerland. Nevertheless, the Scandinavians took the lead in the 53rd minute via Fridolina Rolfö. Two minutes later, however, Ramona Bachmann again scored the equalizer.
Substitute Hanna Bennison made the winning goal eleven minutes before the end against the Swiss team, which was ravaged by illness in the run-up to the game. The Everton midfielder hit from the edge of the penalty area.
At the end of the game, Sweden failed to work on the goal difference. Gerhardsson’s team missed a few opportunities and also saw two goals disallowed for offside.
Sweden shares the lead in group C with the Netherlands. that Portugal defeated 3-2. Both countries have four points from four matches. Portugal and Switzerland follow with one point. In the event of a tie in the group, the mutual result is the deciding factor.
