STOCKHOLM (dpa-AFX) – In view of the Ukraine conflict, Sweden is now also advising against all trips to certain regions in Russia and Belarus. These include the Russian administrative regions of Belgorod, Voronezh and Rostov, all of which border on areas in eastern Ukraine controlled by pro-Russian separatists. This was announced by the Swedish Foreign Ministry on Monday. The reason for this is the serious and unpredictable security situation, including the increased concentration of Russian troops in the area, Foreign Minister Ann Linde wrote on Twitter.
Linde’s ministry also decided to advise against all unnecessary trips to Belarus and all trips to the Brest and Gomel regions there until further notice. Sweden has been advising against any travel to Ukraine since February 12./trs/DP/jha
