Crystal producer Swarovski and EssilorLuxottica announce a licensing partnership. The Italian eyewear manufacturer will henceforth take over the design, manufacture and worldwide distribution of Swarovski Eyewear, the Austrian jewelery company announced on Tuesday.
The license agreement is initially valid until the end of 2028 and includes an automatic extension option for a further five years. The first joint eyewear collection is being developed under the direction of Swarovski creative director Giovanna Engelbert and is expected to be available as early as September.
“We are excited to embark on this journey with Swarovski, a brand known for its artistic design and incredible attention to detail. We have always viewed each pair of glasses as a wearable work of art, and that makes Swarovski and its history a wonderful partner,” said Francesco Milleri, Chairman and CEO of EssilorLuxottica, of the collaboration with the jewelry manufacturer.
EssilorLuxottica only announced a ten-year license partnership with the Italian fashion house Brunello Cucinelli at the end of November. The group also produces eyewear for Chanel, Prada and Burberry, among others, and has a portfolio of its own eyewear brands such as RayBan, Persol and Oliver Peoples.
