A swan caused a dangerous traffic situation just before the IJtunnel on Sunday morning. Several road users maneuvered around the swan, with all the associated risks. “Several calls had been received about the bird that did not care about traffic,” the police from Basic Team Boven IJ wrote.
The police from team Amstel arrived on site to cross the lanes and temporarily stopped traffic. The swan turned out to be easy to catch and ‘surrendered without resistance’, the police wrote on Facebook. The bird was taken into the back of the police car and transferred to team Amstel.
It soon became clear that the animal was weakened and therefore the animal ambulance was called in to take care of the bird.
