Neuer’s deputy
FC Bayern has extended goalkeeper Sven Ulreich’s contract, which expires in the summer, by a year until 2024. This was officially announced by the record champions on Friday afternoon. The 34-year-old Ulreich returned to Munich in 2021 after an unfortunate year at HSV, where he has been deputizing for Manuel Neuer (36) since then.
Board member for sport Hasan Salihamidzic explained: “This contract extension expresses the sporting importance that Sven has for our team. He was and is always a support when needed, including in the dressing room. It’s also important for us that he has been very well coordinated with Manuel Neuer in our goalkeeper’s training group for years. Both support each other and we need that in this important position. I am delighted that we will continue to work together.”

The cooperation with the whole team and especially with Manuel Neuer has grown into something special over many years, we are perfectly coordinated and I really enjoy my job. FC Bayern know that I’m always there when you need me. The goal is to win more titles, that’s what we’re all here for, that’s what we give our all every day.”
