‘Sven Kockelmann screwed Tijs van den Brink’

Bonus at Op1: Sven Kockelmann has really screwed his former co-host Tijs van den Brink and the presenter is quite pissed about that, says Victor Vlam. “Dumped very hard.”

According to TV critics, it is very strange that Sven Kockelmann and Tijs van den Brink, without making it public, have suddenly fallen apart as the Friday presentation duo of Op1. Until the turn of the year they could be seen as the faces of the ‘political Friday’ of the talk show, but now Sven does it on his own. Without Tijs.

Tijs dumped hard

Sven and Tijs say it has something to do with schedules, but according to media critic Victor Vlam, that is only part of the story. He has heard that there is trouble behind the scenes at Op1. “What seems to have happened is that WNL decided that they wanted to continue the political Friday without Tijs.”

He continues in the podcast The Communicados: “They informed Tijs of this at a very late stage. He and his people at the EO were angry about the fact that he was informed about this so late. To make matters worse, Sven appeared to have been aware of the fact that Tijs would be dumped for some time.”

‘Sven’s Sewing Stroke’

That’s just plain wrong of Sven, Victor thinks. “That is of course something that reflects negatively on him, because it is of course not very collegial to keep that hidden from someone you are presenting with.”

He continues: “If you literally watch the last broadcasts that they presented together in December, you will know that at that moment Sven already knows that Tijs is going to be dumped without saying so. Anyway, there has been some irritation between those two broadcasters about this.”

‘Very plausible’

Victor emphasizes that he is not reporting this story with one hundred percent certainty, but: “That is certainly the story that is going on there.”

He concludes: “Again, I haven’t been able to verify it exactly. I was not there. And well, these are one of those things that they are not going to acknowledge publicly. But yes, does it seem plausible to me? Yes, very.”
